The former Bolton Wanderers FC midfielder last played for English club side Hull City in 2008 before hanging up his boot. Okocha who is currently the Chairman of the Delta State Football Association (DFA) last week played in a reserve game for English amateur side, Wolverton Town.
The 41-year-old played 45 minutes for Wolverton’s reserves against Arlesey Town though it is not confirmed if he will be signing a contract with the Milton Keynes club.
“He did play 45 minutes last week for us but we can’t say either way whether he will sign yet,” Amanda Keech, the chairperson of Wolverton Town, said. “He is friends with somebody who coaches at the club and could be helping out with pre-season training with the players. We will be able to say more once he has decided.”
Okocha started his career with Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt before spells at European giants Fenerbahçe and Paris St-Germain. His last public game before he played for the Wolverton Town reserve side was in a charity game organized by Zinedine Zidane in April.
Okocha also made 73 appearances for Nigeria, playing in two FIFA World Cup and winning the 1994 African Cup of Nations and a gold medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.
